Waarom heb je niet het onderzoek dit weken of zelfs maanden geleden? Ze hadden kunnen worden gestart op puppy voedsel op 3 weken. Ik laat ze hebben zoveel ze willen, 4 keer per dag.

When weaning puppies, it may take a day or two to get them use to lapping up food and water. Some people start soft food while puppies are still with mom. Mom will help you wean them…most of the time. You may have to teach the little ones by placing a small amount of food, or water, on your finger and letting the little ones lick it off. You can watch to see if the puppies have started drinking water from mom’s water dish. If they aren’t, they should be by 5 wks. The transition is fairly easy and will not take long to accomplish. As long as the puppies are with the mom they willl try to nurse. I keep food and water available when babies are weaning. After you see they seem to be eating until they are satisfied, you can start feeding them at least 3 times a day. If the dish is completely empty, add more food next time. If there is a lot of food left in the dish, feed less next time. Trial and error. When puppies are 12 wks old, cut back to 2 times a day. Once you start weaning, as long as the puppies aren’t newborn, milk products are not necessary. But water is. As long as you are asking questions, and selecting the best answers, you are learning.
